Manual back ups are probably the most basic type of back up you can do. This involves the simple copying of your files to another storage device. Common storage devices include floppy disks and compact disks. External drives, however, are becoming more widely used nowadays. Not only are they cost-efficient but they are very portable as they come in sizes like those of a keychain.

The main disadvantage of using manual back ups is that the back up device you use can still subject to physical disasters. Your compact disk could be scratched and corrupted and you can easily lose your external disk drive.

Hence, if you are a person who easily forgets things like back ups, this option may not work well for you.

Off-site data back ups are amazing in that it affords you all the advantages of an online data back up but more. Automated back ups are available and as long as a task is scheduled, you don’t have to worry about a thing.

Data back up services are actually accountable by law. The Sarbanes-Oxley Act was passed to safeguard consumers from inappropriate access of their information as well as the illegal tampering of any sort of data with the deliberate “intent to impair the object’s integrity or availability for use in an official proceeding” shall be considered as a felony.
